Commemorative Stone At The Dam

Valve House At The Dam

Stone for construction of the Dam was quarried at Longridge Lancashire and delivered by train to Windermere

The following is the inscription on the stone erected on the embankment:—

MANCHESTER CORPORATION WATERWORKS.

THIRLMERE.

THE FIRST STONE OF THIS EMBANKMENT WAS LAID ON THE
22ND AUGUST, 1890,
